Aldo Summer Bags

Summer Bag

I think I have an obsession with Aldo, I love their shoes, their bags, their accessories, pretty much everything. This summer there is a variety of bags, from daytime at the beach to classy night at the theatre. My favorite bag has been the Birkin Bag inspired, a bag that Princess Grace Kelly and Jackie Onassis Kennedy would own .  Another bag that I fell in love with and own is a white bag with a gorgeous floral scarf, very Chanel inspired.

Summer Platforms

The platforms of this season from Aldo remind me of the 1970s summers, very bright, bold, disco fever, Studio 54, and teen Jodie Foster in Taxi Driver. These shoes look as if the child prostitute from this amazing film would buy to walk around in New York City.

Love the lace

Factory Girl

Factory Girl is one of my favorite films because it has everything I love, the Swinging Sixties, New York City, pop art, socialites, and the one and only Andy Warhol. I absolutely love how the Sixties is portrayed in this film, it is so sexy, mod, and ultra chic, still very glam even though showing the downfall of drugs and alcohol. Andy Warhol's Factory was filled with art, films, drugs, sex, and expectations.

This film is mostly about Edie Sedgwick's rise and downfall during her time at the Factory. Everyone at the Factory expected so much from her, especially Andy. The movie reflects the jealousy and rivalry between Andy and Bob Dylan. They were both in love with her, but they pressured her to choose between them, the artsy cool kids, or the music entourage. Poor little rich girl.
The artsy cool kids

I always say that I was born during the 1940s and lived my youth during the Swinging Sixties, so I get very excited when I see any Sixties inspired films, I feel like I'm relieving my past. The wardrobe in Factory was incredible, I loved Edie's clothes, hair, eye makeup, short hair, big earrings, leopard coat, everything was just mod and chic.

Aldo Summer Collection

Aldo is my favorite shoe store, every pair of shoe I own is from Aldo. I love this store because first of all is from my favorite country, Italy, but mainly because when you put on Aldo shoes you feel so sexy, elegant, chic, glamorous, and classy. These shoes are made from excellent material, they look very expensive, and most of all what I love about their shoes is that they are simple. These shoes don't need bells and whistles or exaggerated details to look sexy or make a fashion statement.

The summer collection includes a variety of shoes and bags. The basic necessity for summer are sandals, you can wear them to the beach, the mall, a date, during the day or evening. Most of the sandals are thong sandals in every color, but it's great to have simple, neutral colored sandals. For me this summer I've been obsessed with turqouise, it just reminds me of the ocean, and the other color has been peach, which I can pair with anything. I don't buy sandals with a lot of detail, but it is good to have at least one or two pairs of sandals with a unique detail.

Cork Wedge

Espadrillas and cork wedges are another great options for summer days and nights. They can play up a day dress or with the right accessories you can wear them at night. Also they're perfect with shorts, which makes them girlie and flirty. I love these shoes in black, nude, and brown colors.

I have them in brown

I own this shoe
Ballet flat is the perfect shoe to pair with everything from shorts, dresses, leggings, and jeans. This summer there's obsession with preppy, ivy league inspired shoes, such as the boat shoes, the best colors to buy are red, blue, and brown.

Low pumps are for girls like me who can barely walk with high pumps. While wearing low pumps, you can enjoy the time out better because you are not worried about the pain, and they look so chic.

The greatest investment in a woman's closet is a pair or a couple of pairs of classic pumps. Pumps are sexy and elegant, and every woman should have black and nude pumps.

Water for Elephants

I'm so sorry that I haven't posted anything these past few days, but I'm back.

Well, a few weeks ago I saw Water for Elephants, which stars Oscar winners Reese Witherspoon amd Christoph Waltz, and the sexy Robert Pattinson. This is a beautiful story about a love affair that blossomed during the 1930s in an American circus. Robert's character Jacob and Reese's character Marlena have to hide their affair from her husband, Christoph's character, and have to work together to train the new circus attraction, the elephant. They fight for their love and the elephant's protection. I love stories that are set in the past and present how our grandparents lived their lives and the obstacles they overcame to survive. Water for Elephants is another great film about love set in the past, told in a flashback by the elderly, this movie has been added to the list of Titanic, The Notebook, which other?

The wardrobe in Water for Elephants was very Old Hollywood, glitz, glam, Jean Harlow inspired, 1930s elegant and seductive. Reese Witherspoon looked amazing in all the circus costumes, which were similar to the costumes in Christina Aguilera's music video Hurt. I just loved the simple, sleek gowns, the circus outfits that worked perfectly with the horses and elephant.

500 Days of Summer

One of my favorite films of all time, 500 Days of Summer, it is such a perfect film, drama, love, broken hearts, comedy, art, fashion, music, architecture, literature references, pop culture references, quirky. What I love most about this movie, it's that it is not the typical, romantic comedy about the girl with a guy that doesn't want to commit, with the funny girlfriends, typical dialogue about relationships and sex, this film is different, awkward, filmed in an artistic way.

I fell in love with Tom and Summer, and with Joseph and Zooey, but also with Summer's clothes, bags, shoes, bows, apartment. I loved how the director emphasized Zooey's blue eyes throught the whole movie, the color light blue is in her apartment, her clothes, the dance sequence, everywhere in the film there's blue. Summer's style was inspired by the 1960s quirky style, preppy, girlie, vintage inspired, 1950s ladylike, sweet dresses.

Lady Gaga's Judas

Lady Gaga is the most controversial artist of our time. Everything she does is jaw breaking, people expect the unexpected with Gaga. I think she feels that she has to shock us more than the last time we see her, no pressure, Gaga. Her latest video, Judas, a very biblical inspired video, many people were offended, others as myself were not offended.

The video shows Lady Gaga as Mary Magdalene, who is Jesus's disciple, but in love with Judas, the bad guy. The song describes this Gaga's love triangle between Jesus and Judas, but it really is a metaphor. Jesus represents the good guy, Judas represents the bad guy, and Lady Gaga being with the good guy, but in love with the bad guy. She knows that the person she is in love with is the wrong person to be in love with, and she wants forgiveness from the good guy. One of the most important message this song and video present is forgiveness, if Jesus could forgive Judas for his betrayal, then we could all forgive anyone who had cheated in a relationship.

The fashion in this video is just beautiful, Gaga is dramatic, as always, so sexy and dangerous with her motorcycle style, very Hells Angels. I loved Gaga's eye make up, which is inspired by the Egyptian make up during Cleopatra's time. Lady Gaga knows what she wants and knows what people love to see.

Eurovision 2011 Ukraine

The Eurovision Song Contest 2011 was held last Saturday in Germany. For those who do not know about the Contest, it is the most important singing event of the year in Europe. Every country is represented by the singer or singers the country sends. This year many of the songs were amazing because many of them had really great voices. I impressed by Germany, Greece, Azerbaijani, United Kingdom, France, and especially by Ukraine. The song from Ukraine, "Angel", which was by singer Mika Newton, I love this song and the performance because it was so artistic, unique, creative ,and different. While Mika is singing, and wearing a gorgeous feathered gown, in the background we could see an artist creating art with sand.

Black Swan

Black Swan
It was around October of 2010 when I saw for the first time the Black Swan trailer, and I just knew it was going to be an amazing film. I finally saw the movie a couple of weeks ago, and I wasn't disappointed. Natalie Portman absolutely deserved that Oscar, she did an incredible performace as a ballerina, her portrayal of a white swan turning into the black swan. I fell in love with story, the symbols, the comparisons and rivalry between Nina and Lily, the psychological aspect, and ofcourse the costumes. The costumes on and off stage really expressed each of the characters. Natalie's character, Nina, off the stage she was the white swan wearing whites, grays, and pale pinks, very sweet and innocent. Then Mila Kunis's character wore black, dark grays throughout the story, as she represented the black swan off the stage. The ballerina costumes were beautiful, very detailed, breathtaking feathers, just extraordinary. The Rodarte sisters, who have always had that ballerina inspired creations in their collections, it wasn't really a surprised that they were included in this project.
Black Swan has become a classic film, not only because of the great story, but also because of the gorgeous ballerina costumes, which will be inspirations for the future.
